Bedtime!

LJ and I bought a bed frame when we were first married but it broke after about 6 months (insert joke here). Since that time we've been sleeping on a box frame and mattress on the floor. We been married 7 years (as of today) so it's been a while since we had a real bed. For the most part, I haven't minded. I wanted our next bed purchase to be something nice that would last a long period of time, and up until recently we've always had more important things to spend our money on. Over the years I've told LJ that when we have a real bed, I'll know that we've 'made it'. This is because we'll have made it to a point in our lives where spending some real money on furniture is possible. So, I'm happy to tell you, we've finally made it. (:

We bought this bed a few months ago when we thought we were going to end up with a different house. Luckily for us, all the new furniture fits wonderfully in the house we actually bought. I wont go into detail, because you'll never need it unless you buy the same exact bed (copy cat!) but here we are putting it together.  Oh, we didn't find any instructions in the boxes....

Here are all the pieces...now what?

See that middle piece? yeah, it was just part of the packaging, but we thought it was part of the bed at first....

It took a few minutes to figure out that the legs went onto the slats and that the middle piece of wood (mentioned before) was not actually part of the bed (thus it has been moved).

These slats aren't going anywhere.

Doesn't it look nice? Time to add the mattress!

So... see how high this bed is? We realized the sample in the store didn't have a box frame and ours does. So an already high bed has become this almost 4 foot high monstrosity. Seriously, it's a good thing we're tall or we wouldn't be able to get into bed. It was a big surprise at first, but I've actually grown to love it. I think LJ likes that were that much closer to the fan. Now, I need to figure out what to do to cover our box spring, since it is kind of an eye-sore. Maybe put a matching fitted sheet around it?hmmm

Oh, and if your observant you'll notice some sneaky blue lines making their way into the background... more on that later this week. :)

  1. A fitted sheet would work - that's what I did in our guest room - it's a good quick fix. You could also staple fabric to it... (http://pinterest.com/pin/162481499026869556/)...
