Look what we got last weekend!
Can you tell I'm excited?
We went with a crib from Ikea. When looking at cribs I really wanted a simple design. I shopped around online and this crib at Ikea was the one I liked the best. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the price was low.
Only $119 for the crib and $50 for the mattress. Can't beat that!
The cribs that convert to a toddler bed and then a full sized bed are really popular right now, but I didn't want one of those. They're probably great if you are only going to have one or two kids, but if you plan to have a really big family then you will always need a crib that is a crib. I wouldn't want to have to re-buy a converting crib for every kid. So, instead we got one that goes from crib to toddler bed and back. The sample in Ikea was navy, but here's what it looks like as a toddler bed:
We bought the crib on Saturday and the experience reminded me to NEVER GO TO IKEA ON A SATURDAY AGAIN. Way too many people. It was hard to walk around the place. But we made it in one piece and brought our purchase home. (That two was an adventure because the box barely fit in LJ's car!)
The whole crib came in just one box.
Before we put the crib together I used the mattress to make sure I knew where I wanted the crib to be. After all, it's way easy to drag a mattress around the room than a full crib. After considering some options, I still wanted it centered on the accent wall.
It wasn't that hard to put together. We ended up working on it Monday night because I couldn't wait any longer.
Now I just have to figure out what sheets to get. I'm leaning towards something gray since the accent wall is so bright, but I'm not sure yet. Decisions, decisions.
Oh, and guess what we woke up to yesterday morning! Hail! It was SO loud. Luckily, even though it was plentiful it wasn't too big (about the size of large peas) so I don't think it caused any damage. But it was sure exciting there for a few minutes.
Yay! One step closer!
