Window shopping at TJ Max

This past weekend I found time to look around at our local TJ Max. I have to say, I almost always find something I want in their home goods section. And don't even get me started on their actual Home Goods store (drool). Anyways, this particular trip I found all sorts of nice things.. unfortunately none of them were in my price range (booooo).

Let's start with this beautiful chair. They had two of these and I thought they looked great. I really like the fabric used and first thought was how good they would look in our dining room. Maybe replace the chairs at the head and foot of the table with these.
But then I checked the price. $99 each for chairs I don't really need. Not really high priority right now. So I moved on.
Next I saw this great coffee table. I really wish I had gotten a better picture of it. (I was so focused on the detail that I missed the big picture). This table is square and is pretty solid. I love the legs. I saw a piece similar to this at High Fashion Home Furniture one time. Its legs were each 1/4 of a large circular leg with some details. When cut into fourths, the parts facing out looked similar to the profile of this table leg (hope that made sense!). I loved that table. I remember hugging it and saying "pleeeeeaaaaassssseeeee can we get it???" but it was $3,000 and my wise husband said no (what can I say, I get attached to pretty furniture). So, when I saw this one I thought "now there is something I'd pay $99 for".
But it turned out to be $249. At list point I started thinking "since when is TJ Max so expensive?" but this is a pretty unique piece. And obviously it's less than the only other similar table I've seen. But I just couldn't even bring myself to call LJ to talk about it. $249 is still a lot to pay to replace a piece of furniture we have that works fine. I just keep thinking of all the other things we need.
Then I saw this one. A long thin table, perfect for our entryway. It's got nice clean lines and the wood color would go nicely with our laminate. It's not a unique piece, but looks well made and would fit nicely. I thought that it'd be around $99.
$249 again. Seriously? Ok, either TJ Max is raising their prices or I am still experiencing sticker shock from buying a home (maybe both). I feel like I could go to Gallery Furniture and find this piece for the same price. Am I wrong here? Needless to say, I did not get this either. Craigslist here I come.
On my way out the door I saw this guy. I liked him. The inside opens up and there is just some styrofoam in there for packing. I'd like to put something like this in our Dining Room, maybe fill it with different object depending on the month (ornaments in Dec, Pine cones in Nov, etc.). It was only $30 and I came this close to buying it, but I decided it's smarter to wait until we get all the other big pieces for the Dining Room (like a hutch) before starting in on the details.
While I may not have left with anything in hand, I always find it fun to see whats out there. It's also good to get an idea of prices, so when you run into the deal of a lifetime you know whether it's really worth it or not. Maybe next time, TJ, maybe next time.
