Rain, Rain, Go Away

So, today is the day I should be getting a new roof - well, today and tomorrow (apparently they only need two days to get the job done.) Yesterday, while I was at work, the roofing company dropped off the supplies. I came home to this in our driveway:

Last night, I packed up my stuff (staying at a friends house while they work) took the artwork off the walls (since they will probably rattle around) and made sure everything was in order. The roof guy called and I confirmed that work would start in the morning, as long as there is less than 30% chance of rain. Apparently the roofing guy's insurance is dependent on this.

Then at 3:30 am this morning it was raining so hard it woke me up. I have to tell you, I'm a pretty heavy sleeper. It had to be really coming down in order to wake me. Normally I love sleeping when it's raining, but it was raining SO hard last night that I found it hard to sleep. Later, when I woke up at 6:00 am it was still drizzling. I contacted the roof guy and he told me that the rain should let up by 9:00 am and as long as the forecast was under 30% for the rest of they day, they would still build.

So, rain, rain, go away. Please, please, please go away. Don't make me pack up my stuff and get the house ready again another day.

  1. It might be a nuisance, but at least your contractor wants to ensure the best conditions to fix your roof. All the troubles you faced would be worth it when your roof is fixed, and you don't have to spend another rainy season worrying about leaks.
