So, for my sister’s birthday I bought her a Smash Journal. I
was shopping around and stumbled upon something perfect for her. I love when that happens. A Smash Journal is this
cute spiral bound journal with a hard cover where each page is a different fun
paper. They have themes so I bought her the ‘doodle’ one (girl loves to doodle
so much she’s covered her walls in doodles). The book comes with this pen that has a glue
stick built into the end. The concept is it is a place you can just glue in all
sorts of things and it doesn’t have to look perfect. Like scrap booking for the
person in a hurry.
Here is the little video they made the show you what it is:
Well, it was perfect for Mandy; especially because she’s in
a transitional period of her life (about to go off to college). I figured this
way she can use to help remember what it’s like to leave the nest. I got her
the journal and some really cute accessories they sell to go with it:
Date stamp that has fun phrases like "This Deserves A Fist Pump"
Little pockets to glue in and keep small things in
Fun sticky notes
She opened the gift and immediately started filling the
book. I sat there and watched her and slowly turned green… so I went out the
very next day and bought one for myself (the mod one). I figure I’ll want to
keep stuff about getting a home and baby and all that jazz. :) Or maybe I’m just a
little kid who didn’t want to be the only one without a toy. Either way, I’m
having fun and loving this new product.
Here is a blog where people can show off their journals:

ooo, i just saw those at walmart today. nice choice!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :) I thought so.
DeleteFunny. 1) That is SUCH a good gift for Mandie (and yourself as well!)... 2) Marilyn, Chance's momma, just sent me a care package with some necessities as well as a smash book and a bunch of accessories! Guess it's a cool trend!
ReplyDeleteI will admit I'm a little nervous about using it. The OCD/type A/perfectionist in me is SCREAMING that I'll do it wrong. I don't know how to be messy....even artfully messy. It's something I really have been wanting to teach myself. I want to paint an abstract this year (and actually have it turn out abstract). I want to be able to smash things in a book without worrying if they're crooked or perfect or "just right for the page". Help me!
That's pretty funny to me that you have one as well. You should put stuff in it with your eyes closed ;)
