Ok, time for item #2. Since yesterday’s post was so long I’ll try to keep it short and sweet today.
We FINALLY bought a bed frame/headboard!!!
You may be wondering why I am so excited, let me explain. When LJ and I got married we bought a bedframe from ikea. Now, I love ikea, I think they have LOTS of stuff that are great items for great prices…. But in my experience, it is not the best place to buy a bedframe. LJ and I bought one there and it broke in half within the first 6 months.
Since then we’ve made do with our box spring and mattress sitting on the floor. Over the last 6 years of this I’ve always said “I’ll know we’ve ‘made it’ when we actually buy a bed frame.” This is because I knew we wouldn’t spend the money on one until we had become financially stable and had a house. Well ladies and gentleman we have made it! (Yes, I actually said this very loud with my arms up in triumph when I came home from Bel Furniture on Saturday).
We bought this queen sized bed frame/headboard from Bel Furniture and we only paid $468 for it! Here it is:
Some of you who know me may be thinking “wait a minute, what about the four post bed???” See, for years I’ve been saying that I want a four post bed… and I still do. But LJ and I will be upgrading to a king sized bed in a few years so I figure it’s smarter to save money now and spend it on our king sized bed frame (since we will use that one for a much longer period of time). This is still the bed frame I am drooling over:
In the meantime, I’m very excited about this bed. Why? Because it had drawers. Don’t ask me why, but I just love little places to put stuff. And the drawer pulls on this are adorable. See:
Anyways, I’m excited. I haven’t even started planning how our bedroom will look yet, but at least when we move in our bed will NOT be on the ground. Hooray!!!

Oh man! You didn't tell me the bed had drawers! That's flippin' awesome! They will certainly come in handy! And...if/when y'all upgrade to the king bed, they'll still be great in a guest room to store extra sheets/blankets/other guest necessities. (:
ReplyDeleteIs this store going out of business or is it ALWAYS this inexpensive?
Hahaha - also, I pretty much tell every client I have (who is buying ikea furniture) about your bed story. I'd buy anything from there EXCEPT that!
The store is always pretty cheap, and then we got 10% off, no tax. I guess time will tell if it's worth anything or if it falls apart. I view it as a grade up from ikea but a grade below Star Furniture (Do they have that by you?).
ReplyDeleteIf it holds up you'll have to recommend it to clients ;)
Yeah - There's a Star right by my house. Pretty great stuff, but slightly too-high prices.
