Target Runs Make Me Happy

I’m interrupting all the serious DIY how-to type posts to bring you one that’s a little more fun. LJ and I went shopping at Target and I got a few things for the house. Besides things like shower curtains and tupperware (which are important but not really interesting to share) we got a table-runner and our first throw pillow for the couch.

I think the last time you saw my dining room table it was when we were having our first meal at it:

Well, since then nothing has really changed. It’s been pretty naked. We have to use coasters not to ruin the finish so it pretty much just had some random coasters I could find thrown onto it. This past weekend I was throwing a brunch and didn’t have enough coasters/wanted to dress up the table a little, so I  bought a table-runner at Target. I also unpacked a random box and found this pitcher I bought at Home Goods (one of my favorite stores!) and this is now where I’m at:

The table-runner is a little short, but that’s OK because it’s only in the Dining Room until I have time to make one that will fit this table. Long term I plan on moving it to the breakfast area to my smaller Kitchen table, which it will fit perfectly.  For now I like it because it gives us a place to put down our glass and adds some texture to an otherwise very plane room. Plus it cheers up my view from the entry way a little.

Here is the throw pillow I got:

Isn’t it cute! I like that it’s round instead of square. I call it ‘our first throw pillow’ because I plan on making/buying quite a few more to bring some color to our large gray couch. This one is so cheerful! Up until now the only pillow we’ve had on the couch was an old college one…which doesn’t match at all. Here the are together… can you guess which one will be leaving the room soon?

So, what do you think? I’m pretty happy with our purchases, can’t wait to start decorating (it’s getting hard to focus on things like flooring because picking out throw pillows is SO much more fun!)
