If there is one thing I’ve learned from my many hours of watching TLC various home design programs, it is that it is way easier to match paint and drapes to a rug than the other way around. It is for this reason that I started the Living Room design process rug first.
Two weeks ago I started looking at rugs online. I know that I want some sort of design (not just a solid color), that my color pallet neutrals will be grey and white (not beige and brown), and that it has to be comfortable. With that in mind, I started my hunt.
Of course I immediately fell in love with a rug I cannot afford.
Figures.
It’s an Angela Adams rug and it makes me feel so relaxed:
But not only is this outside my price range, but it would also nail me down to a specific family of blues and I’m just not ready for that type of commitment. I started looking on a bunch of websites and found some real possibilities on target.com of all places:
But nothing really said “Buy me! Love me! Buy me!” so I figured I’d keep looking. The more I thought about it the less I wanted blue on the rug because I haven’t decided what color I want the walls to be. This was my state of mind when entering Bel Furniture. Well, I found something I not only love, but I think will look great in my future home (and only cost us $420.99):
It’s amazing how excited I can get over a rug! I’m only a tiny concerned about keeping the white portion of this rug white… I might try to scotch guard it or something. I’ll be looking up methods in the future and I’ll let you know how it goes. For now I’m just excited that my first piece has been purchased for the room we will use the most in our home.
