I sew, and thus have an obsession with fabric. After every project I always have some left over and throwing it away just seems like such a waste. Up until now I've always just shoved it into this bin thing I found at my parents house. But now that I have a room devoted to all things crafty it was time to come up with a better method.
Enter the mason jars:
I put little scraps into the jars, organized by color and larger remnant on the ironing board, folded as closely to the same size as I could (not easy to do as some of these are pretty funky shaped).
I wasn't sure I'd need all those jars, but it turned out I had more scraps than I thought!
And of course, the larger remnants just kept piling up.
Here is the finished product:
Not going to lie; just looking at the above picture makes me happy. (I know, I have a problem)
Here is one a little farther back so you can see what the room looks like as a whole. The larger remnants are hanging out on a shelf for now, but they are in rainbow order, so they easy to sort through.
I wasn't 100% sure I'd need scrap fabric often enough to give them such a prominent place in the room, but then I used scrap fabric when making my co-workers these badge reels and it was great to just grab a jar instead of digging through a bin of fabric. Now I just have to figure out how to fit the rest of my craft stuff in this room (and there is a LOT).
